I finally stopped arguing with my foreman about digital takeoffs after he showed me a 12% error rate on my last manual estimate.
He pulled up the side by side comparison on his tablet and I had missed almost $3,800 in material on the Johnson build because I was eyeballing the roof pitch off the paper plans, has anyone else had their veteran boss prove them wrong with actual numbers like that?

I read somewhere that even veteran estimators miss up to 8% on manual takeoffs just from eyesight fatigue alone. Your foreman actually had the proof to back it up, which is the hard part to argue with. At least now you know where your weak spot is and can fix it instead of guessing.

Does that mean you're gonna trust the digital tools from now on or still fight it?
