I was on a site in Portland and saw a crew using an app to scan rebar before the pour. It caught a spacing error we would've missed.

Hold on, that sounds like a crutch. What did we do before apps? We used a tape measure and our eyes, and we learned the trade. Now you're trusting some phone to tell you it's wrong. What if the app glitches or the guy scanning it doesn't know what he's looking at? You still need the old skills.

Man, that reminds me of a plumber I saw using a laser level to check pipe runs. Thing was beeping like crazy over a quarter inch slope. Foreman came over, old school guy with a torpedo level, and just nodded. Said the laser was right. Sometimes the new tool just confirms the old gut feeling.
