My garage build turned me against all construction management apps
I was really happy to try a new app to track my garage construction last year. It promised easy schedules and updates for everyone involved. But the app crashed all the time, and the workers just ignored it on their phones. We missed key dates because the alerts never synced right, causing delays. With three kids at home, I was already busy and had to double-check everything myself with old paper notes. Now I think simple checklists and face-to-face talks work better for small projects like this. Why do so many folks push tech that adds more confusion than help? Has anyone else found apps just make things harder?

My smart thermostat needs an app update to change the temperature, it's everywhere. Sometimes the simplest fix is just turning a dial.

Last winter, my so-called smart thermostat locked me out until I updated its app. The update was 500MB and took forever on my slow wifi. I ended up just opening a window because it was faster. Now I keep an old manual thermostat in the closet as a backup.

Honestly, this is why I get annoyed with all the 'smart' stuff now. Tbh, basic things should just work without making you update an app first.
