My thermal camera spotted a hot spot in a wall that saved a rewire job in Denver.

Was doing a panel upgrade in a 70s house and the camera showed one circuit running 20 degrees hotter than the rest, which turned out to be a single loose connection at an outlet that would've failed soon, so has anyone else had a small tool find a big problem like that?

Honestly, that feeling when you catch something like that is the best. It's such a relief to fix a tiny thing before it turns into a huge, smoky mess. My camera felt like a toy at first too, but finding one hot leg on an old fuse panel changed my mind fast. It's crazy how a simple tool can show you exactly where the trouble is hiding.

It's wild how that same principle plays out in so many areas of life. You can ignore a small creak in your floorboards for months, then one day you step through the rotten wood. Or you skip stretching that sore shoulder until you can't lift your arm. We're all running around, hoping nothing's wrong until that little camera or tool forces us to actually look. It's like we'd rather live with potential disaster than spend five minutes finding out a problem is small. Everyone's got that one thing they're scared to check, and it's usually the stuff that ends up causing the biggest headache later.

Ever think those cameras were just a gimmick? I did, until mine found a hot neutral in a crawlspace that was about to cook some wiring.
