Setting up sensors to track progress made me question where we draw the line

Back in the day, we managed sites with trust and walk-throughs. Now, constant data feeds can feel like an invasion, even when it helps the schedule.

Yeah, that constant data feed invasion feeling hit me last week when our office installed motion sensors everywhere.

@the_julia, that's a real concern. But here's a twist: those motion sensors could be quietly changing how teams work together. They might push people to stay at their desks just to show they're active, which kills casual chats by the coffee machine. Over time, this data could be used to see if a team works well together based on where people move. It turns the office into a game where you're scored on where you walk. That invasion feeling you had is right because it's not just tracking, it's changing how we act without telling us.

Have you asked what the motion sensors are really for? In some places, they only control lights and AC to save money. They might not track where people walk at all. It could just be about cutting costs, not watching staff.
