The drone survey for our site grading looked cool, but I went with the old-school transit crew.
We had a 15 acre site in Knoxville to grade for a new warehouse pad. The drone company promised a full topo map in two days for $4,500, but my gut said to stick with the two-man crew with the laser transit for $3,200. The drone data came back with weird gaps in the tree line, and we would have lost a week fixing it. The transit guys were slower, but they caught a major drainage issue on day one that the drone would have missed. Has anyone else had a drone survey fail on a site with heavy tree cover?

But a week's delay isn't the end of the world.
