Took me 4 hours to realize I had the wrong auger bit size for my post hole digger

Honestly, I was out on a job in Fresno last Tuesday trying to sink some 4x4 posts for a fence. I spent a whole afternoon fighting the ground, thinking I hit a rock layer or something. Turns out I was using a 6 inch auger bit when I needed a 12 inch one for the soil type. Five different trips to the rental place later and I finally got the right size. Has anyone else lost a whole day because of a simple bit swap?

Man I feel this in my bones. Last summer I spent like 6 hours trying to drill through what I thought was solid clay in my backyard and it turned out I was using a dull 8 inch bit instead of a sharp 4 inch one for the fence posts. It's wild how often we overcomplicate things when the real issue is just the tool or the step we skipped. That's the thing about life too, you know? We bang our heads against a wall trying to force something and it's usually just a simple fix we missed at the start. Happens with everything from cooking to car repairs, you just gotta step back and check the basics before you assume it's some huge problem.

Six hours with a dull bit... bet your neighbors thought you were digging to China.
