Unpopular opinion: I put GPS trackers on my crew's tool bags and it cut theft to almost zero in 4 months
I run a small framing outfit out of Fort Worth and we kept losing nail guns, lasers, and batteries off job sites. After the third DeWalt impact vanished in one month I dropped $340 on a 10 pack of Tile trackers and zip tied one inside every bag and case. First two weeks were a joke, the guys hated it, one kid asked if I was tracking them too. Then a compressor walked off a site in Arlington and I pulled up the app and watched it sit at a pawn shop on Division Street. Cops got it back in 3 days and the thief was one of the subs we hired that week. Here is the part nobody tells you, the trackers did not really stop people from stealing, they changed how careless my own crew got with leaving stuff overnight. Fewer bags sat out in the open because the guys knew I could see them, so the easy targets disappeared. If you run 6 trucks or less this is a no brainer, cheaper than one stolen gun. Anyone here try AirTags instead and run into range issues on big commercial sites?
