Unpopular opinion: We're using drones wrong on most job sites

I keep seeing crews fly a drone once at the start of a project for a cool video, then put it away. That's a huge waste. On a 6-month site I ran, we flew the same grid pattern every Monday morning. The real value is in the change over time, catching a 2-inch settlement in a foundation pad or a material pile that's shrinking too fast. It's not a camera, it's a measuring tool you use weekly. Are you guys actually building progress models with your flight data, or just making marketing clips?

My buddy's crew missed a major drainage slope error for weeks until their weekly drone scan caught it.

Man, that's wild. My friend's team did something similar on a small housing project. They were laying pipe for a week based on old grade stakes, and a random laser check showed they were like six inches off. Had to dig up a whole section.
