Warning: That fancy 3D scanner my boss bought is collecting dust on the shelf

I mean maybe it's just me but we dropped like $4,000 on a Matterport Pro2 last October for our small remodeling crew in Portland. The guy who sold it to us made it sound like it would cut our measuring time in half. But here we are 6 months later and it's been used maybe 3 times total. The problem is nobody on site wants to mess with setting up the tripod and waiting for it to scan each room. It takes forever compared to just pulling out a tape measure and writing stuff down on a clipboard. Plus the software subscription is another $70 a month which feels like throwing money away. Has anyone else bought into a construction tech gadget that ended up being more hassle than it's worth?

lol I gotta push back on this one. "collecting dust on the shelf" is harsh. We got a Matterport Pro2 for our crew in Austin last year and honestly it's been a game changer for client walkthroughs and bidding. The tape measure is faster for sure, but that scanner saves our butts when we need to go back and check something we missed without driving 30 mins back to the job site.
