A guy at the coffee shop said my key ring was a 'noise crime' and honestly, he had a point.
I was just grabbing my usual order yesterday and my keys jangled on the counter. This older fellow next to me, really nice about it, just said, 'Sorry to say, but that's a real noise crime you're carrying.' He explained how the constant clinking from all the loose keys and tags on one big ring was driving him, and probably others, a bit nuts in quiet spaces. I never really thought about it, but he was right. I had like 8 keys, a grocery store card, and two little metal tags all on one ring. I went home and split everything up. Now my main keys are on a small, quiet carabiner and the rest are on a separate ring in my bag. The difference is huge. My pockets don't sound like a wind chime anymore. Has anyone else had a small habit called out that you just didn't notice was annoying?

Man, that's so true. It's like we're all just walking around with our own little soundtracks of tiny annoyances. Makes you wonder what else we do without realizing, you know? Like, is my phone keyboard click sound driving the person next to me on the bus crazy? Probably. We get used to our own noise and forget other people have to hear it too.

Nah, I actually like hearing those little human sounds in public. It's way better than dead silence, which just feels weird and tense. The clicks and crinkles remind you other people are alive out there.
