Can we talk about how free trials sneak up on you?

I signed up for a music app trial a few weeks back and completely lost track of it. They charged my card $12 this morning because it auto-renewed. Now I have to spend time on the phone to cancel and maybe get a refund. It's such a silly hassle that could have been avoided.

It's basically a tax on being forgetful, and they designed it that way on purpose. Makes you miss the days when you had to mail in a check to pay for stuff.

My credit union sends text reminders three days before a payment is due. That usually gives me enough time to log in and pay without a late fee. I get where you're coming from, but I see it as more of a nudge to stay on top of things. Mailing checks was a pain because they could get lost or arrive late, lol. Now with auto-pay, I never have to worry about it.
