Hit 40 years old and honestly thought I'd feel different than I do
I turned 40 last month. Everyone kept saying oh youll feel so wise or like your life is half over or whatever. But honestly I just feel the same as I did at 30 except I get tired earlier. My wife keeps asking if I feel like a milestone person now and I don't. It made me wonder why we build up these number things so much. Does hitting a certain age actually change anyone or is it just a thing we tell ourselves to feel something?

Man I feel this so hard. I hit 42 last year and was waiting for some big click in my head that just never came. What makes you think we're even supposed to feel any different when the numbers go up? I mean, do you actually buy into the whole "new decade, new you" thing or is it more like everyone around you just expects you to act a certain way now?

Nah, I kinda like the idea that getting older just means you get to stop pretending to care about stuff you never cared about.
