I always thought leaving a light on for my dog was silly, until last Tuesday.

My dog, Buddy, knocked over a lamp while I was out getting groceries, and my neighbor called to say he could hear barking for an hour. I started leaving the hallway light on after that, and he's been quiet ever since. Does a nightlight or a radio work better for anyone else's pets?

Oh, that's a familiar story. My old lab used to get anxious in the dark too. I found a simple plug-in nightlight in the hallway worked wonders, much better than a radio for him. It was just enough light to see the room without being too bright. He stopped pacing and settled right down.

Wait, you used a radio before? That's wild, I can't imagine that helping at all.

Yeah, the plug-in nightlight thing is solid. I used a red bulb one in the corner of the room, dim enough to not mess with sleep but it just took the edge off the total darkness. Made a huge difference for my dog's nighttime restlessness.
