Looked at my phone screen time and it was 6 hours yesterday
That's more than I spent sleeping. It's just from checking news and scrolling while watching TV. How do you even start cutting that number down?

Been there for sure. My screen time was insane last week and it really freaked me out. Maybe try putting your phone in another room when you watch TV. It sounds simple but it breaks that habit of just grabbing it without thinking. I had to turn off most of my news app alerts too, they just pull you back in. It's a slow process but even cutting an hour feels like a win.

Actually, keeping your phone nearby can be useful. What if there's an emergency call or you need to quickly check a fact from the show? Turning off all alerts means missing important updates. Sometimes that mindless scrolling is the only real break people get in a busy day.

My buddy Mark tried the whole "phone in another room" thing last week and it backfired hard. He put his phone in the kitchen while watching a show, then his kid fell off the bike and he had no idea for like 20 minutes because the ringer was off. Now he keeps it next to him but just face down so he can't see the screen light up. The scrolling break thing is real though, sometimes sitting still for a whole hour feels impossible without that little distraction. Still, I think there's a middle ground where you can keep your phone nearby but not let it take over the whole experience.
