My old way of making coffee was basically a science experiment gone wrong

I used to weigh beans to the gram and time the pour, but after my scale died during a power outage last Tuesday, I just started eyeballing it. Anyone else find their 'perfect system' just crumbles under real life?

Yeah, I saw a whole thread about this last week. Apparently a bad power surge can fry the circuit board in digital scales. Someone said their scale showed "Err" and never worked again after the lights flickered. Another person had theirs just display all zeros no matter what. They're pretty sensitive electronics for something that sits on the bathroom floor.
