Remember when TV remotes had proper buttons? Now my sleek one keeps opening the wrong app.

Back then, I could press play without even looking. Now I have to stare at it and still mess up.

Held onto my old cable remote for years because the buttons had a real click to them. Once, during a power outage, I could change channels by feel alone. Contrast that with my current smart remote, which lit up and opened Netflix when I wanted to pause. I actually dug out the old one just to feel those solid buttons again. Felt like visiting an old friend.

Yeah, that "change channels by feel" thing is dead now. My buddy tried to turn his volume down in a dark room last week. His fancy remote has this flat, glowing panel. He absolutely nailed the wrong button, somehow opened Hulu, and the sudden loud trailer scared his dog off the couch. He says his ten-year-old basic remote still works fine on the old TV, buttons you can actually find.
