Shoutout to the guy at the donut shop who warned me about the maple bacon donut
I grabbed one of those maple bacon donuts from the shop on Elm Street at 7am yesterday and it was so greasy it soaked through the bag and got all over my car seat. The glaze turned into a sticky mess that took me 20 minutes to clean off with wipes and paper towels. Anyone else have a donut that looked good but turned into a total disaster?

Ugh, that sounds like an absolute nightmare. I tried one of those a few weeks ago and it was a straight up grease bomb, like they forgot to drain it before glazing. It's such a bummer because the idea is genius but the execution is just a sticky, messy fail. Honestly, the whole maple bacon trend is more trouble than it's worth if you ask me.

Hold on, gotta disagree hard here. Good maple bacon donuts are one of the best things out there when they're done right. The trick is getting thick cut bacon that's cooked crispy so it holds up, not that flimsy thin stuff that turns into a soggy mess. A good glazed donut with salty, crunchy bacon on top is a perfect sweet and salty combo that you just don't get anywhere else. Sounds like you just got a bad batch from a place that didn't know what they were doing. Plenty of places nail it, it's not a trend that deserves all the hate.
