Spent 20 years opening bananas from the stem side until a coworker in the breakroom showed me the bottom pinch method
Apparently there's a natural split at the non-stem end that makes it pop right open with zero smushed banana, so has anyone else discovered a basic life skill way later than they should have?

Read an article about how monkeys actually pinch the bottom of bananas too, not the stem like we're taught. Something about the stem being the hard way that evolution didn't intend. Tried it myself after years of struggling with mushy ends and it worked exactly like they said. Your mileage may vary depending on the banana's ripeness though, really green ones still give me trouble either way.

Pinched a banana from the bottom this morning and it was a game changer honestly. No more mushy squished end from fighting with the stem. The article is right, you get a clean break and the whole thing peels way easier. Still hate when they're too green though, that's a lost cause no matter how you do it.
