Turns out my morning coffee habit was costing me way more than I thought
I always figured my $4.50 daily latte was no big deal, but last week I added it up for the year and it came to over $1,600. That was shocking enough, but then I read a breakdown online about how investing that same amount monthly for 20 years could grow to around $40,000 at 7% returns. I never thought of it like that before, just a little treat every day. Now I'm making coffee at home and putting the difference into my savings account. Has anyone else done the math on a small daily habit and actually changed it?

The $500 I used to blow on random app subscriptions last year hit me the same way when I finally checked my phone bill. It's funny how we treat small daily stuff as invisible, but those little leaks add up to real money faster than any big purchase I've ever made. I think the real trick isn't just swapping the coffee, it's catching that pattern where we stop noticing our own spending at all. Once you see one number like that, you start checking everything, and that's when the savings actually stick.
