Went to a coffee shop that had 14 steps just to order a plain black coffee
Stopped into a place called Brew Haven downtown last Tuesday and the menu had more fine print than a car warranty. I just wanted coffee, not a life decision about oat milk foam art. Why does every shop have to make ordering feel like a test?

Jumping in to say black coffee is just coffee with no milk, not no sugar or anything else. Plenty of shops will pour a straight black drip and hand it over without a single question about oat milk or foam art. You can still find those places if you look for a counter with a single pot and a cashier who looks bored.

Fourteen steps for a black coffee. Man, that sounds exhausting. I went to a place last month that had a whole glossary on the wall for their brewing methods. Like, sorry I didn't study before my caffeine fix. I just stood there feeling stupid and annoyed. Same frustration, different shop. It's like they're trying to weed out the casual coffee drinkers.

Last time I ordered a "plain latte" they asked me what kind of milk I wanted from a list of six.
