Went to grab my lunch from the breakroom fridge and someone straight up ate it

I was at my desk around 12:30 today, starving, and walked over to the breakroom to grab the pasta salad I brought from home. Opened the fridge and my container was gone, just empty space where it sat this morning. I asked around the office and this guy from accounting said he thought it was the communal leftovers from yesterday's meeting. Now I'm sitting here eating a vending machine granola bar and trying not to be mad, but seriously who eats someone's clearly labeled tupperware? Has anyone else dealt with mystery fridge thieves at work?

Get yourself a lunch bag and keep it at your desk, that's the only way to stop the fridge pirates. I learned the hard way after losing three meals in one month to a mystery person who apparently couldn't read labels lol. The communal leftovers excuse is such a classic move too, like buddy your pasta salad had a name tag on it. Maybe try getting one of those locking lunch bags or a cooler that sits under your desk, nobody will mess with it if it's not in the fridge. Also start writing "DO NOT EAT - SEVERE ALLERGIES" on your containers, that usually scares people off even if it's a lie lmao.

My friend had this happen to her at a dental office she worked at. She brought in a container of homemade chili one day, labeled with her name and the date. Found the empty container washed and sitting in the drying rack by the sink, no note or anything. Turns out the new receptionist thought it was fair game because she didn't know whose it was, even though the name was right there in big black marker. It was a small office so they figured it out, but my friend never put food in that fridge again.
