Hitting 500 board repairs this month, never saw that number coming
I keep a tally on my bench and just crossed 500 total boards fixed since I started part time in 2019. Guess I never added up the small jobs, but a stack of 30 dead DVD players from one church sale really pushed me over. Anyone else track their totals or just wing it like I used to?
Tracking numbers kind of misses the point for me. A lot of the stuff I fix is small, resoldering a jack or swapping a cap, and those jobs take twenty minutes but save someone a $200 TV. Counting them makes it feel like a race when it's really just helping people keep their stuff out of a landfill. Maybe it's just me but I'd rather remember the weird ones, like the guy who cried over his dead VCR, than hit some round number.
