Those market fixes can show you how people solve problems with what they have. It's a different kind of smart, like seeing how a culture thinks about fixing things instead of just throwing them away. You learn about being flexible, not just the right steps. Ever notice how they use everyday stuff for tools?

Once saw a guy in a Bangkok alleyway repair a motorcycle engine with just a wrench and some wire. Taught me more about being clever than any manual.

Actually that "learned more than any course" thing is risky. Seen some of those market fixes fail after a week because they skip basics. Even @karenmurray's clever wire fix probably left out important safety checks you get from a real manual. Getting quick tricks without the foundation can make a BIG mess later.
