My neighbor said to just reflow the whole board on a 2018 MacBook Air with no video, and it actually worked for a month before it died again.

That "reflow the whole board" advice is a classic. It's a band-aid fix. The real problem is a cracked solder joint or bad chip. Heat can re-make the connection for a bit, but it always fails again. You need a microsoldering repair to fix the actual issue. Not some quick heat gun trick like @sage_schmidt6 was joking about. Find a shop that does board repair, not just whole board swaps.
