Update: hot air rework vs soldering iron on a 2019 MacBook charger chip, one of these nearly cost me the board
Spent 3 hours last Thursday trying to pull a shorted USB-C power delivery chip off a MacBook logic board with my trusty Hakko iron and it was a disaster, lifted two pads and almost cooked a trace. Switched to my Quick 861DW hot air station at 380C with a little flux and the chip came off in about 20 seconds clean as anything. Anyone fighting these tiny QFN chips with an iron is just asking to scrap a board. What temp and nozzle size are you all running for this kind of work?
