Can we talk about how people always say the 'Game of Thrones' finale was rushed
I mean, I rewatched the whole final season twice, and I think the problem wasn't the time, it was the character choices. Everyone points to the 6 episodes, but Daenerys going from breaker of chains to burning a city in one episode felt off based on her arc. It wasn't about needing more hours, it was about ignoring 7 seasons of build-up for a shock. I've seen this happen with other shows too, where the ending feels disconnected from the journey. Has anyone else felt like a finale's biggest sin is betraying its own characters, not just being fast?

Totally get what you're saying. The speed of the last season was one thing, but it felt like they forgot who the characters were. Daenerys had that turn coming, but they didn't lay the groundwork for it in the final stretch. It makes the whole journey feel pointless if the ending doesn't respect the people we followed for years. You see it all the time where writers go for a big twist instead of a true ending. What's a finale that you felt really got the characters right?

Saw an interview where a writer called it "narrative whiplash" from rushing the turn.
