Local cafe's new 'freelancer hour' isn't helping my focus like everyone says
My neighborhood cafe just started a special time for freelancers to gather. But I find the talk and need to meet people actually ruins my creative flow, unlike what most locals say. Has anyone else gone to these get-togethers and thought the same?

Ugh, forced networking vibes! Those events can turn into a weird show where everyone is just pretending to be busy and happy. You get stuck in a loop of fake laughing at small talk while secretly checking your phone, and your actual work just dies. It feels like being on a stage instead of in your own head where good ideas happen. No wonder your creative flow just packed up and left.

Have you tried setting a small goal for these events? I aim to have one real talk with someone, which cuts through the fake stuff. It could help you, @the_susan, keep your creative flow from leaving.

Yeah, that "weird show" feeling is so real... my friend went to one and said two people were literally just holding empty coffee cups and nodding at each other for like five minutes.
