Remember when freelance pitches were a letter in the mail?

I just found a box of old printed proposals from my early days. Each one was typed out, mailed, and you waited weeks for a reply. These days, a client expects an email back in an hour. The slow pace meant you really thought about each job you went for. Now it's easy to spray out quotes and hope something sticks. I kind of miss the weight of a stamped envelope. It made each potential job feel more serious.

Honestly I was just listening to a podcast that talked about the whole slow mail thing. They said it actually made people value the work more on both sides.

My local post office has a FILE on me from mailing so many odd things. The staff just nods now when I walk in. So YES, I definitely mailed them.
