Absolutely. Our whole team realized we were just clinging to tradition. The big change was ruthlessly cutting meetings that didn't need to be syncs and letting people batch deep work in their own peak hours. Productivity shot up once we stopped measuring attendance and started measuring output.

Did you hear about that startup that banned meetings on Wednesdays? My friend's team tried it, and they said the boost in focused coding time was insane. They literally tracked commit frequency and found a 40% jump on those days. Makes you wonder how much of our process is just theater.

Honestly, switching to async communication was a game-changer for my team. I mean, we used to have daily stand-ups that just felt like attendance checks, but shifting to weekly written updates in a shared doc let everyone focus. Idk, maybe it's just me but letting people tackle complex tasks during their own energy peaks, like early mornings or late nights, reduced so much friction. We saw a noticeable drop in missed deadlines once we trusted people to manage their time. It was pretty eye-opening to realize how much busywork we'd created just to fill the traditional nine-to-five.
