Finally saved a project I thought was ruined with some extra elbow grease
I was working on this old walnut coffee table and totally messed up the stain by applying it too thick. It looked patchy and dark in spots, and I was sure I'd have to strip it all off. On a whim, I grabbed some 0000 steel wool and just started rubbing it down lightly, section by section. It took me the whole afternoon, but slowly the blotches started to fade and the grain evened out. I wiped it clean and gave it one more super thin coat, and it came out looking really smooth. I mean, idk, maybe it's just me, but seeing it transform like that felt amazing. It's not a huge deal, but it's nice when a simple fix actually works. Definitely taught me to take my time next go around.
